Sheilla Foster was born in Edmonton, Alberta where it snows a lot in winter and is very hot in summer. She moved to Vancouver, BC when she was 16. After graduating from high school, she worked for a short while as a switchboard operator. Later she became a  truck driver for the Canadian Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service which allowed her to travel all over B.C. At that time she gained a pilot’s license .

Sheilla is married and has three grown sons. After her son’s were older, she started teaching night school which she did until she was 75. She started writing Limericks when she was 80 and became the  World Poetry New Westminster Queen of Limericks.

An example from the book:

“There is a quick little brown wren. Who learned to write rhymes with a pen. In case you don’t know it. She is an excellent poet. Who is published in books now and then.”
