Michael Morris Featured World Poetry Poet from Canada!

Michael writes about himself: “I write about the way life is! I see life, not through “rose colored glasses” as some poets might see it, in order to make their writing more acceptable to the general public. Much of my writing is “hard hitting, for it describes life the way it is.

After sixty eight years of experience in the uncouth world of this creature called man/women, it might come as no surprise that my writing pulls no punches while airing my private thoughts! For really, it is meant to be a diary for airing the tensions, anger and other emotions brought on by the actions of certain segments of this species of life which seem to me to be out of control, not meaning that all the human race is out of control but only certain aspects of that race.

Although, most people wish to hear only that which is in agreement with their own personal viewpoints, there are some who wish to gain a fresh outlook on life. Thus my writing provides an example.

Here is a poem that I wrote for World Poetry”:

World Poetry

This group called World Poetry
Has much power in its hand
For once it thought it really could
And it’s determined that it can

Like an octopus, it’s tentacles
Have spread the world over
Like a gypsy, it’s pure influence
Spreads to all poetic rovers

For a thousand different avenues
Of their thoughts become attraction
And with each poetic warrior
There’s a call to arms and action

There’s a hundred different ways to write
And a thousand different styles
For some stanzas are quite serious
While others there are smiles

It may be some experience
That some member might have had
Which causes some among us
To be touched and feeling sad

For, like an artist with his paints
He portrays a picture
So once he joins this little group
He then becomes a fixture

There’s nothing that this group can’t do
If they set their minds to it
For Ari says “stop talking folks
And just go ahead and do it”

 So poets come from China
And they’re from the Middle East
To spread for us a banquet
That they pronounce a verbal feast

Alejandro translates for the world
So the Spanish folks can hear
Which brings our global family
All together and quite near

We are heard upon the radio
And we’re mentioned around the fire
While the thinking of collective minds
Are forever reaching higher

Just like a pretty garden
With so many different flowers
Each poet captures hearts and minds
As we’re sharing precious hours

Some artists play their instruments
While some others show their dances
And watching them do special steps
Oh, how our heart entrances

Some tell their different ballads
An experience they’ve had
A Scottish lassie in the downs
Or about a Scottish lad

And so the World Poetry
And the Radio Café
Have spread abroad that which we laud
And these thoughts we take away

    Dear Michael!

You are me in masculine form! I too know and feel that my poetry is like , “…a diary for airing the tensions, anger, and other emotions….”! What a wonderful and truthful way to put it!

And I too have a poem about World Poetry! Small world! I just read it while co-hosting with Ariadne at “World Poetry’s New West Night Out”-“Celebration of E. Pauline Johnson”.

I’ll put it on the WP facebook for you and everyone.

Your poem about WP is a fabulous piece of work. I especially love the phrase in the poem, “poetic warrior”. How true.

    Thanks for sharing!
