World Poetry Canada Peace Festival Begins today!

Today is the Grand Opening of the peace festival at the Peace River Room, Irving K. Barber Learning Centre at the University of British Columbia. We set up the World Poetry displays yesterday and even if I have to say so myself, it looks wonderful (see gallery below)!

What’s on the program today?
7-9 pm First Nation welcome by Godwin Barton.
official World Poetry Peace E-Anthology launch at UBC and on the Internet begins with a shouted countdown and link by our partners at Cinevolution at 7:30 pm Pacific Standard Time. This is our free gigantic peace hug for the world sending peace blessings as it travels form one poet, one person to another. It will be linked live on site at www.worldpoetry.ca by director and formatter of the E—World Poetry Peace Anthology Heidi Mueller and on Facebook by our esteemed Internet Launch Director Saleh Mazumder.

Enjoy the poems for peace by the wonderful poets, artists and partners. Write your comments and share your wishes for peace on the World Poetry Canada International Facebook page! Selected poem and thoughts will be posted at www.worldpoetry.ca.

Dance to the delightful music by Rio Samaya Band (Pancho and Sal) and enjoy the beautiful Jasmine dancers. Watch the World Poetry Exclusive Short Afghan Film: “Silence” by Afghan Youth Poet Sharif Saedi. Welcome the wonderful African Poet Michael Kwaku Kesse Somuah and the talented Graphic Artist Designer Kwame Agyare Yirenkyi who are flying in from Ghana to be with us! Light refreshments and fun for all.
