Sarah writes:

“My name is Sarah. I am 27 years old, grew up in the Okanagan valley and have been writing since a young age. After a few working holidays in the UK and Australia, I have mostly been settled in Vancouver since 2011. I am passionate about health and wellness, travel and exploration, arts and creativity, and the never ending curiosity of my own mind. I am looking into pursuing the continuation of my post secondary in psychology and hope to also focus on creative writing in some capacity. I write for me.

Here are a few poems of mine. The first is the oldest poem of mine I still possess, written as a teenager, the other I wrote quite recently after the passing of my grandfather this summer and a conversation I had with my grandmother about death and loss as she was in the process of packing up her home of 30 years to move into a new place.”

Title: My philosophy 101

One final breath and
Hazy umber dusk dies down
The edges of my soul burn
With the beauty of what was
And then was gone
Yet bore new life through misery
Eager light springs forth
Through licking slits of darkness
Creeping
Curling
Capturing my vision
I fear the night
Still it pulls me
Drowning hope and faith and flight
But there lies a new world of opportunity
Delight
Yet
White teeth smile
Concealing truth through light of day
And I wonder how much of this
My life
Holds substance
The kind that remains
