Lyne writes: “I never thought the word “writer” would be used to describe me and the thoughts that tumble out of my head onto paper. It’s a new me, giving away words all neatly packaged up in rhyme.”
I have lived in the interior of Alaska off and on for nearly twenty years. Alaska gets in your blood. It lures you in then takes your soul hostage, becoming part of who you are, who you become. Every summer, the days are warm, long, and inviting. Tourists descend in droves, racing toward the next adventure, and a rich, colorful history provides plenty of businesses with trinkets to sell the Alaskan nostalgia. Anything seems possible when you are standing outside at midnight and the stars are nowhere to be found. That is until winter rolls back around.
I live and write in Fairbanks, a place where in winter, temperatures can hit -60° and darkness is a daily companion for months. It can and does play tricks on the mind. Throw in an independent, willful woman, with enough relationship blunders and baggage to sink a ship, and presto, words begin to spill all over anything that can be written on; words that are my salvation.
From sane to crazy and everywhere in between, that’s what Alaskan Vogue is. It’s my thoughts, carefully crafted in order to deliver my truth at any cost, and it’s how I buy my way out of a self imposed nether world. Alaskan Vogue is my story, my gift to the universe.
Fun Facts About Lyne : I live in Fairbanks Alaska. I’m divorced (4 times)I have 2 grown daughters and 4 grandchildren. I have 3 dogs. I work in the Aviation industry. I’m an amateur photographer. Alaskan Vogue” will be a first for me in publishing. I was first featured as author of the day through CTU 2/28/

The Original Arctic Queen
You ask who am I
I promise to try
To help you to understand
Come here and sit by me boy
I’m gonna make you my toy
I am the ruler of all the land
A heart forged out of ice
I don’t like to play nice
I must have total control
I’ll help you believe
What your eyes really see
When I dismantle a couple of souls
I can call on the winds
Coax out all of your sins
Bring your mind right up to the edge
The end of your life
Brought forth by the knife
Unless obedience you earnestly pledge
The sun is fading away
You must beg me to stay
Free will is now way out of sight
It’s bitterly cold
Watch the magic unfold
As darkness replaces the light
Bought and then sold
For the price of some gold
Quite cheap and rather obscene
And by now you should know
I command ice and snow
I am the cunning Arctic Queen
