FANTASY
In my dreams you are still there, Apollo,
perfect beauty shrouded
in mist of gentle raindrops,
dropped naked before my cold, bare feet
by a mischievous god from a primeval sky.
Sometimes you take me
n the cloak of your arms
and lock me there, secure
or in a cozy bed, innocently entwined
like pythons in passionate dance.
Time and again
you kissed me in the Sampaguita-scented room,
in white shores of tides and salty seaweed scents;
in solitary caves where
illicit lovers sought sanctuary and in
the shadowy recesses of my secret garden.
But in my winter solstice
you are gone, Apollo
and I finally came to terms with myself
that you are, and always have been
only an elusive creation
from the lonely caverns of my poetic soul.
