ICE FISHER

Perhaps, you are on a bench
in a park by a river

crying at the sight
of two lovers skating

as if
held aloft by some magical force

You’re a restless ghost tonight
I can’t find the way in to your secrets
and lacy white lies

They press like chloroform
over the mouth piece
of this little black phone

“He’s a Saint” say my friends
as they watch with lips parted

his hands slowly stroke
the supplicant cat

I miss you
I miss your hot breath
suspended like a lantern

between
my benevolent breasts

I miss you

I miss
your clutch of amazement
that untethered me here

to become a finger point
a sky full of oranges

my rusty Italian
broken into
a thousand different tongues
