The Desire for a Fair and Just World

I want a world that is fair and just to all.
I want a world where everyone tries to be kind and understanding.
I want a world, where, instead of planting the seeds of hatred, everyone plants seeds of love.
I want a world where people, instead of competing and ruining each other, try to appreciate and help one other.
I want a world where everyone knows that they cannot be someone else. They can mimic everything, they can have other person’s style and go to school to get the same education, but they can never have another person’s personality, mind and talent.
I want a world where everyone appreciates who they are, how they look, and where everyone accepts that our diversities and differences add to the beauty of our surroundings and our world.
I want a world where everyone realizes that we are all needy. We all need the help and support of each other. A cardiologist needs the work of a mechanic when he needs someone to fix his car, a mechanic needs the work of baker, a baker needs the work of a shopkeeper, a shopkeeper needs a banker, a banker needs the people to make bank accounts. Even the kings and presidents need nations to lead.
Finally, if there is no needless person in the entire world, then why be arrogant!
I want a world where no one discriminates against any human being based on color, race, religion, ethnicity, language or disabilities.

World Poetry Celebrates Universal Day of Children!

Ariadne’s Notes: Just got a call this morning from our wonderful human rights and advocate Alaha Ahrar. She was our first director a number of years ago.

This proclamation is important. The children and youth are the leaders of the future. We need to empower and believe in them, band together to bring projects of hope and inspiration that creates success for them. World Poetry Canada International calls for all our 10,000 participants to come together individually and collectively for the precious children of the world.

JUSTICE FOR ALL CHILDREN

Today, November 20th, is the Universal Day of Children!! How wonderful and lovely, but I wish the United Nations showed some practical actions in support of refugee children as well. If refugee children are also included, then this day would have a real meaning and would be very appropriate for all children, but how? Some children have privileges that others are unable to afford or are denied including their basic human needs and rights. The weather is getting colder day by day, but some children have no support.

* Happy Children’s Day to all children around the world!

* All children are sweet and lovely regardless of their immigration status, race, religion, tongue and region, abilities and disabilities.

* All children should be treated the same regardless of the amount of wealth their parents have in their bank accounts.

* All children should be loved and cared for the same, regardless of whether their parents are around to nurture them.

* All children should be supported the same. Instead of calling them orphans of war, everyone should create a garden of care for each one of them.

* No child should be punished or called irresponsible for not having anyone to teach him/her manners.

* No child should be discriminated against based on the level of the poverty that they live in now, whether with their parents or without their parents.

* All children should be given equal attention regardless of the level of their intelligence.

* All children must be treated the same way regardless of not having supportive families, cute clothes and beautiful looks.

* All children should have access to the same amount of water and food to survive on a daily basis.

*All children must be protected from all predators, all kinds of abuses including emotional and physical violence.

* All Children must have adequate clothes for each season.

* Everyone should help to protect children and make it a safer environment for them to grow up peacefully because children are the future of this world.

* All children must live under a roof because all children’s bodies are the same. The homeless, displaced and refugees, children’s bodies also cannot tolerate the intensity of this cold weather.

Are we still proud of ourselves? Are we satisfied with the knowledge that we have about the needs and violations of the rights of the refugee children? Do we know enough to help other children in need of food, clothes and shelter? Have we done anything to support at least one child in our life-time.

*** Children’s Day is a day recognized to celebrate children. The day is celebrated on various calendar dates in different countries. Children’s Day was begun on the second Sunday of June in 1856 by Reverend Dr. Charles Leonard, pastor of the Universalist Church of the Redeemer in Chelsea, Massachusetts: Dr. Leonard held a special service dedicated to, and for the children. Dr. Leonard named the day Rose Day, though it was later named Flower Sunday, and then Children’s Day. Source: Wikipedia.

Ms. Alaha Ahrar is a Human Rights Activist. She is one of the Board of Directors for the Afghan Women’s Writing Project (AWWP), one of the Directors of International World Poetry Youth Team, Canada and a writer and reporter for Peace X Peace Organization, Washington, DC and Banu Magazine in Europe. Ms. Ahrar graduated from University of Mary Washington with a triple major; A BA in Human Rights, a BA in Political Science and a BA in International Affairs; she also completed a certificate program in Middle Eastern Studies. Ahrar is multilingual and has excellent computer skills. She has had numerous certificates, such as Certificate of Domestic Violence Tier one and Tier two in 2014, from Fairfax County, Virginia. The Universal Manifesto of Protection of Women against Sexual Violence, Sexual Assault, and Sexual Harassment.

• “In every border of every country, regardless of the women’s immigration status, women should be protected against sexual violence, sexual harassment and sexual assault.

• Every country should conduct educational trainings and awareness for military police officers, educational institutions, different organizations and public that respecting reputation of all women globally as well as the protection of their belongings and bodies are the priority.

• Educating individuals and families of their own internal roles, consciousness and responsibilities to refrain from any act which is going to sexually or physically assault or harass women.

• Women should feel safe and sound anywhere in any corner of the world.

• The exchange of Women Slaves for Sex should be banned all over the world. Whoever, takes part in any of these sorts of activities should be considered criminal and should be sentenced for a series of jail time.

• Eliminate the roots of sexual violence, sexual assault and sexual harassment of women by creating and conducting prevention classes, trainings as well as some different series of short TV shows, advertisements by some influential and well-known individuals and TV stars.

• Educating the nations by explaining their key roles and power in stopping sexual violence, sexual harassment and sexual assault of women internationally.

• People in power must not misuse their power and influence to take advantage of disadvantaged women.

• A greater punishment and penalty for the educated individuals in any educational institutions, organizations or in public, who intentionally or unintentionally assault or harass women through their behavior.

• Informing and educating the illiterate and uninformed people of their rights and the subsequences of violations of the rules and laws.

• Empowering women globally by educating and teaching them to have the courage of saying no and stop.

• There is no law in some underdeveloped countries yet to protect woman or to support the victims of Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment. There should be an international law to protect women internationally.

• The United Nations should create and implement very strict laws and penalties to prohibit sexual Violence, Sexual Harassment and Sexual Assault of women internationally in higher education institutions, in or outside their houses and their countries.

She is also a poet and writer and was awarded the Best Poet of the Year 2011 for Afghanistan and the United States in Canada. She was also appointed as the Ambassador of Youth and Peace for Afghanistan in 2011. She is interested in human rights, politics, international relations development, poetry, social justice and public speaking.
