Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías

Líder de tu pueblo Venezolano,
bandera roja al viento, esperanza de las masas,
progreso para la nación.
Chávez campana que despierta
América Latina.

Chávez y yo,
en la tierra de Simón Bolívar,
después de nuestros encarcelamientos
tu mano y la mía se estrecharon
uniendo el sueño de dos naciones.
Tu voz de Jaguar
entona tu alocución,

“El petróleo es nuestro,
el petróleo es de Venezuela
el petróleo es de los venezolanos”.

El pueblo te responde en las calles,
en las plazas, en los estadios, en el mar.
¡Chávez NO se va!  ¡Chávez se queda!
en la aurora de la esperanza
que vive en el corazón de tu pueblo.

¡Viva Chávez!
¡Viva Caracas!
¡Viva la revolución venezolana
¡Viva el pueblo venezolano!
¡Viva la nación bolivariana!

Greetings by partners Presentation of World Poetry Lifetime Achievement Award celebration for Richard Doiron from New Brunswick, Canada.  World Poetry Empowerment Awards for International visitors. Dance by Jasmine dancers, reading and light refreshments.

Theme: Achieve Peace!

Addresses by Dr. Stephan Gill and Ashok Bhargava on The Meaning of Peace. Poetry readings and book launches by International poets:  Doc. PenPen, Philippines. “The Father of Philippine Visual Poetry” is the writer and director of “Takipsilim,” an award-winning indie docu-film. His upcoming book”PENTASI B’’ will contain a collection of 100 visual hundred poems and will be launched at the World Poetry International Festival in May. Richard Doiron, World Poetry Lifetime Achievement Award Winner will be launching his new book: Let There Be Peace.

Other book launches: Attila F. Balázs, author of many books of poems and prose. His prizes and distinctions include the Sighet Poetry Festival Prize (Romania). Written in Magyar, his work has been translated into many languages. He lives in Bratislava, Transylvania where he is the director of the publishing house AB-ART. He will be launching his new book at the festival along with Dr. Stephen Gill. Awards, dances by Jasmine Dance Club.

Light refreshments in the afternoon. World Poetry Youth Team will host Achieving Peace, an interactive panel. Other international guests include: Yoshifumi Sakura, Japan, Zayra Yves, USA, Neamat Haidari,   Afghanistan, Dr. Hadaa Sendoo, Mongolia Betty Scott, USA, Alaha Ahrar, Afghanistan and USA, Samarendra Patra, India, Manny Capcito, USA etc.

The Vancouver Tagore Society will present a brief presentation on Peace.

Theme: Celebrate Peace!  

May 26, Executive Airport Plaza Hotel and Conference Centre 7311 Westminster Highway, Richmond, BC. Opening at 6:00 pm.  There will be one seating of the gourmet dinner at 6:30 pm.  Dinner tickets: $35.00. Meet and with the international poets and guests from several countries, network, read your poetry, buy books from the book table, Music from the renowned Rene Hugo Sanchez and dance!  Closing at 11 pm.

Ariadne’s Note: we are pleased to present another three special photographs in our display at UBC. Thank you to all who sent photos and paintings.

Yilin Wang is an emerging writer and photographer pursuing her BFA at The University of British Columbia. Her writing has appeared in many publications, including Youthink Magazine, Fault Lines Journal, and Cerebration Journal. She enjoys using her words and photos to promote diversity, creativity, and peace. You can learn more about her at yilinwriter.wordpress.com.

Yilin is a member of the WorldPoetry Youth Team and will be helping to compile and edit the upcoming World Poetry Peace Anthology.

 Sattar Saberi is a artist, well known for his Peace Posters. An author of several books including children’s books, Sattar is orginally from Afghanistan and now lives in Vancouver . We are pleased to include this photo in the Poetic Necklace Display.
