Ariadne’s Notes: Happy International Women’s Day from the Spanglish Magazine

On February 15, at 1:30 pm PST, the World Poetry Cafe welcomed the amazing Danny Fox and trio with their  new CD The Great Nostalgist
https://www.facebook.com/events/972331972914407/. This new CD is  lighthearted and fun to listen to. It has a very professional twist. Danny also kindly responded to an e-question from a young musician with a local band in Senegal who sent his appreciation after listening live to the show. Included in the show was a beautiful peace poem by Honey Novick .

At 1:10, pm. PST, we had a phone call from Victor Obosi , organizer and director of Afrikadey Festival and promoter of many events.

Danny Fox & Trio.

Pianist Danny Fox was born in New York City where he became immersed in the jazz scene from an early age. In high school, Danny was selected as a Presidential Scholar in the Arts and went on to attend Harvard University during which time he became active in the Boston music scene.

Happy International Women’s Day from the Spanglish Magazine!

He formed the Danny Fox Trio in 2008 as a vehicle for his original compositions and since then the working group has performed steadily around NYC and the US, releasing the critically acclaimed albums The One Constant (Songlines) and Wide Eyed (Hot Cup).

Called a “pianist of diverse accomplishment” (NY Times), Danny has established himself as a versatile musician active in a wide variety of settings, co-founding the New Orleans rock and roll group Tubby, playing around the fertile Brooklyn roots and bluegrass scene, performing on Broadway, and collaborating with the cutting edge video artist Meghan Allynn Johnson. He has performed with artists as diverse as Bruce Springsteen, Cassandra Wilson, Michael Blake, and Kermit Driscoll.

Thanks to Braitwaite and Katz for connecting us with this talented musician.

The Fourth World Poetry Canada International Peace Festival Proudly announces the Empowered Award Winners.

We had over 300 nominations come in, some even six months early. We wish we could honour all of you.

Each nominee was nominated by at least two people, in some cases much more. A check was made as to background, good heart, abilities and the quest for peace. The Empowerment awards are based on these qualities.

This year, the age range is from 12-100!

An award will be given to those that can attend during the month of October, for those who cannot come due to Visas or other reasons, a certificate will be sent to you by e-mail. In past festivals, awards were sent out, but most never reached their destinations. If there is a name or country error, please let us  know.

This list will be going on site and when time permits, a brief bio, photo and a poem or writing will be put on site.

The festival is coming together, created by many hours of volunteer work for peace. We are have launched a Crowd Funding site to pay for some of the costs, rather than have it come out of pocket. For more information: Go to  https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/fourth-world-poetry-peace-festival/x/8284778 and join the team to create empowerment and peace!!This is your festival too and the waves of peace coming from it will circle the world! You can also contribute by becoming a peace connector volunteer and helping out in the festival.
