Anviksha writes:
“Hi Ariadne,
Thank you so much for having me on the show!
Here is the poem I wrote for Canada today on her
day: “Dear Canada”.

Dear Canada

in your land
of hope
sprouts success
in your flag
I see
the dreams
of millions
In your
cool breezes
I see
the desire
to thrive
this is the land
where people
can grow
their thoughts
with your open arms
you welcome everybody
you give them
love and laughter
to share
so people don’t
want to
leave you
Dear Canada
God Bless You!

A poem for peace.

UNDER MY EYELIDS

I want to share
Smiles with hope
As it flutters
like a butterfly
around rainbow of laughter
I want to
hold hands with love
and become one with it
I want to
cherish a moment
With friendship and trust
 I want that
There will be no wind of pain .
Only Breeze of understanding
Flowing amongst us
I want
that In my
Canvas of imagination
I can paint
A perfect world
With no boundaries
But
When I wish out loud ……
People called me crazy
And I’m left alone
With my dream of peace
Swaying under my eyelids.

“Artist’s statement: Light and colour are energetic components of my paintings that stimulate the senses. The excitement comes when the layers of paint build strong contrasts and the viewer can feel the warmth of sunlight and sense the mood of the moment captured. Transparent watercolor gives my work a light from within. Its fluidity and ability to mix on the paper creates fascinating surprises. On my palette are nine colours, to which I will add “guest” hues, to strengthen my message.

This painting by Marney-Rose Edge was based on a poem written By Ariadne Sawyer for Chief Rhonda Larrabee during the 150 celebration of the City of New Westminster and later displayed in a  successful joint celebration of painting and poetry.

Biography: Marney-Rose Edge  was born in Napier, New Zealand and started to travel in her early twenties upon completing an apprenticeship. The next chapter unfolded when she met and married her soul mate, Gary. A career spanning almost 30 years in the Graphic Arts/Printing industry has led to an opportunity for Marney-Rose to paint full time. She teaches workshops and demonstrates her techniques to local art clubs. Many of her flower paintings seem so real that viewers can almost smell the natural perfume.

Richard Armstrong is a New West resident who has been painting and drawing for 25 years. Attended The Victoria College of Art to learn how to draw “properly”and The Centre for Digital Imaging and Sound to learn how to manipulate images in the digital world.

A long time member of The Heritage Life Drawing Society, Richard is quite interested in portraying the human form, broken down into its constituent bits of course and merged together to form not quite what you might expect from a life drawing session.

As President of The New West Artists for the past two years, he has watched the local art scene explode with shows taking place around the clock within New Westminster.

The Third Annual Art Squared Exhibit will take place in early May at The River Market so do not miss seeing several hundred 12 by 12 inch pictures along with a Best Of Collection. http://newwestartists.com/

Rene DeFazio is an accomplished actor, screenwriter and producer with countless film and television roles and commercials and print ads to his credit. Rene wrote, directed and produced a travel show that saw him immersed in exotic locations like Kenya, Egypt and the Seychelles. His adventures and experiences as a world traveler were instrumental in creating One Great Year, his continual and tireless research and firsthand knowledge of international locations, customs, sights and smells brought this epic story to life.

Tamara Veitch is a lifelong writer, artist and mother. She attended Simon Fraser University, where she studied English and Psychology, and is a strong public speaker. Tamara worked in the fashion industry full-time for seven years while attending college; she later worked as a Special Education Assistant in a primary school before leaving to have children and launching her own mural painting business. She never stopped writing; always sure that the next great American novel was at the tip of her fingers, waiting to be released.

An excerpt from the beginning of the book:

Abridged Draft: One Great Year by Tamara Veitch and Rene DeFazio. Canada.

One Great Year.  The Weary Traveler.

 PRESENT DAY, SEATTLE, WASHINGTON

How many lives had he lived? Maxwell Quinn could hardly count them. He had died and been reborn repeatedly; but the rise and fall of human existence wasn’t simple. It followed patterns, and those patterns repeated roughly every twenty-six thousand years. Plato had called it the “Great Year” and Quinn knew the ancient concept well. The Gold, Silver, and Bronze Ages had all come before, and had descended into this dark Iron Age. Quinn searched the night sky, knowing that the precession of the stars was truly a clock. He hoped that the most difficult time in his obligation was over, give or take a few hundred years.

Quinn was not only looking for proof that the Dark Age was ending, but he was also tracking other Atitalans — Emissaries like himself from the ancient land who had been sent to guide humankind in its evolution. Many of the Emissaries were healers, musicians, scientists, artists, or teachers. They were the way-showers, laying clues for those who cared enough to seek knowledge. He could identify fellow Emissaries by their auras, a karmic code that differentiated them like fingerprints. Seeing auras was no special skill. Quinn just knew how to see.

In Atitala, Quinn’s name had been Marcus, and his Marcus-brain — a deep, ancient consciousness — was awake within him, constantly guiding, educating, and urging him to duty. Atitalan Emissaries had been sent to rebuild the world when the last Golden Age had ended. He assumed the others were active and contributing. He was confident that they, unlike him, were not floundering, disgruntled, and stoned.

For the first twenty years of his adulthood, Quinn had tried to ignore the obligation that weighed on him. He had traveled the world searching for an elusive spirit, one he had loved deeply beyond all others. Quinn’s Marcus-brain urged him to seek out his soul mate, Theron, as he had for centuries. Despite his searching, Theron had not been found — not this time, not yet.

One Great Year is the culmination of a lifetime of learning, living and loving for both the authors.. It is set for Canadian release in July 2013 [Red Tuque Books] and U.S. release in October 2013 [Greenleaf Book Group].Find One Great Year on Twitter, Facebook and at http://www.onegreatyear.com/ along with a free mini e-book.
