Lui Porc was born in Poland, but he has lived in Canada most of his life. Being exposed to a great diversity and mobility – including traveling around the world – he has learned how the life and the world is beautiful, especially when we live in peace, harmony, and prosperity. He is educated in engineering, international business, and the arts. He is delighted to enlighten the spirit of everyone in the world. It is ecstatic to create with love the sculpture, jewellery, and the poetry especially about love – be it in the past, present, or future; the actual, the prayer, or a dream – they are all fantastic reality.

Dancing in the Sky (1)

Every time I look above in the sky
I always see you very very high
Dancing for all the world and so for me
Expressing your spirit totally free

Came as the star of orient to be near
To dance sweet melody I could hear
That’s flowing like blue river in my heart
Right from the beginning, right from the start

You dance so gracefully  like the angel
Flowing the wings that no-one could excel
Flowing the movements in rhythmic sweet tones
In the harmony with the cosmic zones

You dance in the sky gentle like warm breeze
Like perfect acrobat with poise and ease
You dance  on the stage and in my dreams too
In beautiful costumes in red and blue

So expressive so elegant motions
Only you do create loving notions
That all the world can seek and admire
How great you dance  with passion and fire

My we all dance with you together
The same rhythm, same tempo forever
Until we get full exhilaration
All over the world, over each nation

Winnie L. Cheung writes in English and Chinese. An international and intercultural educator, she has taken early retirement to create more personal space for reading and writing. “Poetry, flowing from our inner fount and distilled from lived experiences, is the ultimate expression of humanity”, says Winnie.  She wants to celebrate it with other kindred spirits, and enjoys being part of the Tapestry Team from the World Poetry Society which shares a poem by the renowned Chinese Tang Dynasty Poet Li Bai (701 –762) by reading it in several languages on different occasions throughout the Lower Mainland.

In recent years she has also devoted a lot of her time to promoting immigrant artists by building platforms and bridges through The Vancouver Asian Heritage Month Society (VAHMS).

 A Waiting Prayer

Huddled under the family table laden
with memories of better times
Eyes blurred
Ears blocked
Nose bleeding, fuming smoke
heart in mouth, dry with fear
We waited and hoped
against hope.

Knees deep in cold clammy mud
Eyes wide open
mouth shut tight.
A baby wailed and was
stopped.
Dead silence
but for the chirpy crickets in the grass
and jubilant mosquitoes zooming past.
We waited and prayed
for dinner and
Peace.

The Dead Screamed

Fiery lines scratched the
velvety sky
Bombers zoomed by
Blood clouds descended and
rose in style

Century-old homes smashed to smithereens
Thousand-year-old bloodlines scattered –
 severed or thinned.

The living remained silent.
The dead screamed.

Peace.
