World Poetry Proudly Presents guests from Japan, Afghanistan and Gambia!

The World Poetry Café Radio Show had a wonderful intercultural show with hosts Ariadne Sawyer and Anita Aguirre Nieveras , super  tech Israel Mota and guest, Yoshifumi Sakura, World Poetry Musical Ambassador to Japan. He has never missed a World Poetry Canada International Peace Festival! He was here for the opening on October 19th and returned to Japan today. He also brought the World Poetry Official Theme Song, Circle of Blue  that he composed and was recorded in a concert hall in Japan. Since we have so many countries involved in World Poetry, we felt that it was important to have a official song that represented the earth. So many great comments about the song have been coming in. I will post them soon .  Again thanks to Frederico Gordo for translating for Yoshifuma once again.

Also we were honoured with a visit to the studio by the producer of the film  Unknown  being shown on Saturday. Sayad Ali Mousavi “Azad” who was able to talk about the challenges in making films and some good statements to make. He is knowledgeable about radio programs also and we hope to have him come back on.

Finally, the incomparable Mutiu Olawuyi, World Poetry Cultural Ambassador to Gambia and guiding light for peace, woman’s rights  and the cultivating of young talent phoned in from Gambia. An interesting conversation between Ali and Mutiu occurred when Ali asked Mutiu about peace in Gambia.

Due to so many guests waiting to come on, we have to have two to three guests per show if possible.

The Fourth World Poetry Canada International Peace Festival Proudly announces the Empowered Award Winners.

We had over 300 nominations come in, some even six months early. We wish we could honour all of you.

Each nominee was nominated by at least two people, in some cases much more. A check was made as to background, good heart, abilities and the quest for peace. The Empowerment awards are based on these qualities.

This year, the age range is from 12-100!

An award will be given to those that can attend during the month of October, for those who cannot come due to Visas or other reasons, a certificate will be sent to you by e-mail. In past festivals, awards were sent out, but most never reached their destinations. If there is a name or country error, please let us  know.

This list will be going on site and when time permits, a brief bio, photo and a poem or writing will be put on site.

The festival is coming together, created by many hours of volunteer work for peace. We are have launched a Crowd Funding site to pay for some of the costs, rather than have it come out of pocket. For more information: Go to  https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/fourth-world-poetry-peace-festival/x/8284778 and join the team to create empowerment and peace!!This is your festival too and the waves of peace coming from it will circle the world! You can also contribute by becoming a peace connector volunteer and helping out in the festival. World Poetry Canada International Peace Festival 2013 Winners!

Ariadne’s Note:

It is  with great pleasure that we announce the award winners for the World Poetry Canada International Peace Festival 2013.

Each entry was nominated by one or more people, and went through a background check. The awards are based on humanitarian and peace efforts to make the world a better place.

Many of the award winners are youth. They show a wonderful commitment for peace and the respect of others. Each award winner has sacrificed to promote peace and understanding and in some instances  have shown great courage in the face of adversity.

For the first time ever, we had 10 film, doc entries. With help from our community parter Cinevolution, we were able to include the film award winners this year. The two films will be shown during the peace festival.

Please welcome the World Poetry Canada International Peace Festival 2013 Award Winners:
