 In Our Madness, William

In our madness, William
the centuries won’t interfere
in bringing God to light
as the reason why we’re here!

Engraver that you are,
the “Abbey” will resound,
the statues in your sketches
the stuff of hallowed ground!

Beyond mere metaphor
our pens would now align –
in prophesies to be unveiled
the draft to make divine!

They’d label us, you know
“eccentric fools, insane and mad,”
but then again who’d cancel out
these visions that we’ve had?

In our madness, William
our minds would merge as one:
be ink, or wood or copper plate,
who’d subjugate the Sun.
