World Poetry Celebrates Japanese Canadians!

The World Poetry Café welcomed Lorene Oikawa,  who called in on May 12th  1:10 PM  CFRO, 100.5 FM, speaking about Asian Heritage Month and the Japanese events featured in this special month. Hosts: Ariadne Sawyer and Neall Ryon , engineer Victor Schwartzman.  In studio guest, artist Oparin Ortiz , special e-poem by David Beaton.  A great discussion of upcoming  events, racism and the need for unity.

Lorene Oikawa is the President of the Greater Vancouver Japanese Canadian Citizens’ Association and on the National Council of the National Association of Japanese Canadians. Board Director with West Coast Environmental Law and the Canadian Labour International Film Festival. Assistant District Supervisor with the BC Provincial Government.Executive Vice President for over 9 years with the BCGEU including a position on the BC Federation of Labour Executive Council, and as a Trustee on the Public Service Pension Board.
